KENT “A” LOSE TO WEST MIDLANDS IN THE SEMI FINAL OF THE ENGLISH INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2009/2010

West Midlands halted the Kent “A” team's campaign for this season in the semi final. Having lost last season in the semi-finals, Kent “A” again failed to progress to the final losing at the same hurdle. The “A” team finished top of their regional league against East Sussex, Hampshire and West Sussex to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarter finals Essex were beaten 24-16 (187 shots – 157 shots) before being beaten by West Midlands, the eventual ICC winners, 15-25 (162 shots – 187 shots) in the semi finals.

Kent "A" have previously been English "A" County Champions in 2001/02, 2005/06 and 2006/07 and have been losing finalists on four occasions.

The Kent Premier Team finished their 2009/10 campaign at the quarter finals when they lost to Hampshire.

The Kent Premier team came second in their regional league against East Sussex, London and West Sussex to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the preliminary round Worcestershire were beaten 29 - 11 (217 shots – 135 shots) before losing to Hampshire 12-28 (152 shots – 184 shots) in the quarter finals. 

Kent have previously been English County Champions in 1994/95, 1997/98, 1998/99, 2000/01, 2001/02 and 2002/03 and have been losing finalists on four occasions.

KENT PREMIER LOSE TO CHESHIRE IN THE FINAL OF THE ENGLISH INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2008/2009

Cheshire halted the Kent Premier team's campaign for this season in the final. Having lost to Cheshire last season in the semi-finals Kent again failed to beat Cheshire, this time in the National finals. The Premier team finished top of their regional league against East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and London to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarterfinals Somerset were beaten 24-16 (197 shots – 149 shots) and beat Essex in the semi-finals 24 – 16 (180 shots – 176 shots).  Kent lost to Cheshire in the final 18 – 22 (156 shots – 170 shots) played at Northampton on Sunday 8 March 2009.

Kent have previously been English County Champions in 1994/95, 1997/98, 1998/99, 2000/01, 2001/02 and 2002/03. They have now been losing finalists on four occasions.

The Kent "A" Team finished their 2008/09 campaign in the semi-finals when they lost to Norfolk “A”.

The Kent "A" team came second in their regional league against East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the preliminary round Oxfordshire were beaten 32 - 8 (213 shots – 151 shots) and in the quarterfinals West Midlands were defeated 24 - 16 (184 shots – 168 shots). In the semi-final, played at Northampton on Sunday 1 March 2009, Kent “A” lost to Norfolk “A” 19 - 21 (176 shots – 162 shots).

Kent "A" has previously been English "A" County Champions in 2001/02, 2005/06 and 2006/07 and have been losing finalists on four occasions.

KENT "A" LOSE IN THE FINAL OF THE ENGLISH INTER COUNTY "A" CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2007/2008

Congratulations to the Kent "A" Team for their performances in this year’s English Inter County "A" Championships. Having reached the final for the third year running, they were unable to retain the title, eventually losing to West Sussex “A”. The final was played on Sunday 9 March 2008 at Northampton.

The Kent "A" team came second in their regional league against East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the preliminary round Norfolk were beaten 25-11 (181 shots – 161), in the quarterfinals Somerset were defeated 22-14 (189 shots - 186) and Cornwall were defeated 20-16 (174 shots - 156) in the semi-finals. In the final, Kent “A” lost to West Sussex “A” 11-25 (154 shots - 180).

In the quarterfinals Avon were beaten 27-9 (214 shots - 132), before Kent finally lost to Cheshire in the semi-final.

KENT "A" RETAINS THE ENGLISH INTER COUNTY "A" CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2006/2007

Congratulations to the Kent "A" Team for winning and retaining the English Inter County Championship "A" Title on Sunday 11 March 2007 at Northampton, a title they first won in 2002.

The Kent "A" team came second in their regional league against East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey to qualify for the national knockout stage. Having received a walkover against Devon in the preliminary round, they defeated Staffordshire 24 - 12 (185 shots - 169) in the quarterfinals and Norfolk were defeated 20 - 16 (174 shots - 157) in the semi-finals. In the final West Sussex were beaten 24 - 12 (196 shots - 163) for Kent to become "A" National Champions for the third time.

Staffordshire halted the Kent Premier team's campaign for this season, in the semi-finals, when Kent lost by 16 - 20 (176 shots - 178). The Premier team finished top of their regional league against East Sussex, Essex and London to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarterfinals Devon were beaten 21 - 15 (196 shots - 164), before Kent finally lost to Staffordshire in the semi-final.

KENT "A" REGAIN THE ENGLISH INTER COUNTY "A" CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2005/2006

Congratulations to the Kent "A" Team for winning the English Inter County Championship "A" Title on Sunday 12 March 2006 at Northampton, a title they first won in 2002.

The Kent "A" team came second in their regional league against East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the preliminary round they defeated Buckinghamshire 20 - 16 and in the quarterfinals Avon were defeated 26 - 10. Northamptonshire were defeated 23 - 13 in the semi-finals and in the final Wiltshire were overcome 31 - 5 (197 shots - 135) for Kent to become "A" National Champions for the second time.

Players from the following clubs within the Maidstone & District Short Mat Triples League were represented in the Kent "A" team: Burham, Chalk Village, Culverstone, Downswood, Langley, Ryarsh and Tunbury.

The Kent Premier team fell at the final hurdle in their attempt to retain the English Inter County Championship and win the title for the eighth time, when they lost to Staffordshire 12 - 24 (171 shots - 189) in the final at Northampton on Sunday 12 March 2006.

The Premier team came second in their regional league against East Sussex, Essex and London to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the preliminary round they defeated Worcestershire 24 - 12 and Shropshire 27 - 9 in the quarterfinals. Devon were beaten in the semi-finals 21 - 15, before Kent finally lost to Staffordshire in the final.

KENT PREMIER BECOME ENGLISH COUNTY CHAMPIONS FOR 2004/2005

Congratulations to the Kent Premier Team for winning the English Inter County Championship Title on Sunday 20 March 2005 at Daventry.

The Kent Premier team won their regional league against Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarter finals they defeated Norfolk, 32 - 4, in the semi-finals East Midlands were beaten 19 - 17 and in the final Essex were overcome 22 - 14 for Kent to become National Champions for the seventh time.

Players from the following clubs within the Maidstone & District Short Mat Triples League were represented in the Kent team: Burham, Downswood, Langley, Shorne, Tovil and Tunbury.

Congratulations to the Kent Premier Team for winning the English Inter County Championship Title at Kettering on Sunday 16 March 2003 for the third time in succession.

The Kent Premier team won their regional league against East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarter finals they defeated Oxfordshire 30 - 6, in the semi-finals Hampshire 24 - 12 and Somerset 23 - 13(178 shots - 177) in the final to become National Champions for the sixth time.

Players from the following clubs within the Maidstone & District Short Mat Triples League were represented in the Kent team: Downswood, Hempstead Valley, Langley, Tovil and Tunbury.

KENT PREMIER and KENT "A" BECOME RESPECTIVE ENGLISH COUNTY CHAMPIONS FOR 2001/2002

Congratulations to the Kent Premier Team and the Kent "A" Team for winning their respective English County Championship Titles at Roade on Sunday 17 March 2002.

The Kent Premier team won their regional league against East Sussex, Essex and London to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarter finals they defeated Devon, in the semi-finals West Midlands and Hampshire 24 - 12 (197 shots - 172) in the final to become National Champions for the fifth time.

Players from the following clubs within the Maidstone & District Short Mat Triples League were represented in the Kent team: Downswood, Grain, Hempstead Valley, Langley, Sutton Valence, Tovil and Tunbury.

Kent have previously been English County Champions in 1994/95, 1997/98, 1998/99 and 2000/01

The Kent "A" team won their regional league against East Sussex, Hertfordshire, London and Surrey undefeated to qualify for the national knockout stage. Their route to the final started with a win over Essex in the preliminary round and then defeating Oxfordshire in the quarter finals and Devon in the semi-finals. The final against Norfolk "A" was won 22-14 (173 shots - 169).

KENT BECOME ENGLISH COUNTY CHAMPIONS FOR 2000/2001

Congratulations to the Kent Premier Team for winning the English County Championships for the fourth time at Wellingborough on Sunday 18 March 01. Kent won their regional league against Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk undefeated to qualify for the national knockout stage. In the quarter finals they defeated Staffordshire, in the semi-finals Hampshire and Essex 26 - 10 (210 shots - 163) in the final.

12 members of the squad come from teams playing within the Maidstone & District Short Mat Triples League. The teams being Downswood, Grain, Hempstead Valley, Langley, Sutton Valence, Tovil and Tunbury.

Kent have previously been English County Champions in 1994/95, 1997/98 and 1998/99.
